I Want to Eat Your Pancreas is as heartwarming as it is heartbreaking。I had to hold back my tears while riding the subway。 Sheesh! I didn't think I would cry given the fact that from the first page you know that Sakura dies, but ugh the friendship between Sakura and the main character was so heartwarming and beautiful that you can't help but get attached。I would really reread this because the growth of the MC was so pure。 I appreciate this story for what it is and I'm ready to watch the movie! I was expecting what happened to have happened。 I also didn't expect to tear up, but I did。 I have an issue with this being called a "bittersweet romance" because this definitely is not a romance。 It's just about two people learning and finding comfort in each other。 I was expecting what happened to have happened。 I also didn't expect to tear up, but I did。 I have an issue with this being called a "bittersweet romance" because this definitely is not a romance。 It's just about two people learning and finding comfort in each other。 。。。more

basically YA sick lit with an ill manic pixie dream girl protagonist。 i mostly read it for the absurd title (which actually isn't so absurd within the context of the story)。it's a pretty cute story with some bittersweet philosophical themes。 sakura believes that they "chose to meet" and everything that happens is based on their decisions。the penultimate chapter is super tearjerky, going over sakura's journal from the last months of her life。 i can absolutely imagine a poignant anime version!!but basically YA sick lit with an ill manic pixie dream girl protagonist。 i mostly read it for the absurd title (which actually isn't so absurd within the context of the story)。it's a pretty cute story with some bittersweet philosophical themes。 sakura believes that they "chose to meet" and everything that happens is based on their decisions。the penultimate chapter is super tearjerky, going over sakura's journal from the last months of her life。 i can absolutely imagine a poignant anime version!!but i really struggled with the manic pixie dream girl thing。 sakura teaches our male main character to have empathy and care for others。 her final note literally says she spent her 17 years waiting for him to need her, just like cherry blossoms wait for spring???? oh god。 seriously??? must this young woman's life be reduced to the impact she has on this dude???also, regarding sakura's death (SPOILER) (view spoiler)[it's considered a random stabbing, and there's not really any discussion about it? yet we know sakura had a creepy ex stalking her?? what??? i don't understand why the creepy ex was included if they were never going to indicate whether he was her murderer。 are we just supposed to assume? idk if i missed something here, because it seems so bizarre。 (hide spoiler)] 。。。more

3。5/5 stars。 I didn’t cry。 I don’t how how。 Oh wait。 Never mind。 I’m crying now。This was beautiful。 I’ve always loved books (and now mangas) that have deeper meanings and that create deeper connections between the author/story and the reader。I Want to Eat Your Pancreas was beautiful。 The writing and the art style matched beautifully and the story was phenomenal。

it was super cliche, but that's honestly why i loved it。 it gave me your love in april vibes which was welcomed。 sometimes it's nice to read a cliche story and to know what will happen, and see those predictable arcs, and it comforts me。 i love seeing the isolated main character slowly begin to open up; it's a trope i die for every time。 it was super cliche, but that's honestly why i loved it。 it gave me your love in april vibes which was welcomed。 sometimes it's nice to read a cliche story and to know what will happen, and see those predictable arcs, and it comforts me。 i love seeing the isolated main character slowly begin to open up; it's a trope i die for every time。 。。。more
